Waitress Is Sick

Sorry about the lack of posts, guys, but I've been sick as hell the past two days. I think there's something wrong with my throat bc it hurts to swallow. (Let's not make that dirty, shall we?)

I'm going to go crawl back in bed now and eat some more throat spray.

Best of luck to you all!

OH NO. If it is the worst sore throat in your life, and if after two days there are white spots in the back on your tonsils, its STREP!

I got it for the first time two weeks ago. And I'm 31.

Its another one of those things (like yeast infections) that God and I are going to have a serious WTF conversation about when I die.

Take care! I love your blog & will miss your posts.

I had a friend who SWORE by putting a tablespoon of vinegar in hot tea.

Oh sweetie - I hope you are better soon! Lots of tea and honey and chicken noodle soup - and everyone on here is right -

SkippyMOM says you must go to the doctor if it is still sore tomorrow or you have white bumps in your throat, 'kay?

Feel better soon! Stay warm!

I had the horrible sore throat and white splotches on my throat, also hives all over my body, thought it was strep advanced to scarlet fever. Nope. Went to doc, failed the strep test, tested positive in 1/4 of the time it should take for Mono. Worse thing ever, no antibiotics(its a virus), just a steroid shot in the ass and a script for prednizone, pure misery, get checked out.

You think strep is bad, try all out tonsilitis. And because I tested negative for strep, the doctor refused to give me antibiotics at first. He gave me codine instead. I went back after a week, unable to eat or drink anything. That got his attention. I think he went out of business.

I'd recommend honey, lemon, and a dash of cayenne. You can use tea if you want, I always just mix then in boiling water.

The cayenne kicks up the endorphins so you feel better for awhile.

If you have to take pills, use grape juice to wash them down with. I don't know why it works but it neutralizes the pain and helps your ability to swallow them with out them hurting. Has to be regular, no sugar or sugar substitute added grape juice too.

yeah, if it's strep, your painful throat should respond to antibiotics in 24 hours or so. if not, it may be mono. a specialist paying attention knows the difference on sight, but when i was a teenager & got mono, the sloppy doc put me on antibios and i didn't know to go back after a day or two and suffered for 4 days, and then a second doc said, "they diagnosed you with strep? why?" and gave me pain killers so i could eat. i hadn't been able to swallow food in days! good luck & good health!

Life can be so overwhelming sometimes and I understand your situation. Hang in there and take a break. Life is tough and the race doesn't just end in one night. It's a long journey and we all have to slug it out.

Take it to heart that we are after all human and we do have limits.

Take care!

feel better! I've got a sore throat too, nose ears and all hurting to, it seems to be going around.
I'll follow suit with the other commenters and play doctor.
Some Jameson in hot tea with lemon always feels good.
